IffyG approves this mod. Big Thumbs Up

What's the stock size tire on that? I didn't realize you could go that wide on those cars.

Stock was 245/45/20 all around. 275 is the max I can sanely go with these wheels. Pretty sure anyone who's ran 315's did with wider rear wheels as I don't imagine 315's fitting onto an 8.5" wheel.

Is that a 8.5" wide wheel? Those 275's look really tucked in at the bead on those rims. Why not a wider wheel or staggered setup?

8" (slightly more but not quite 8.5" either), the 275's are as wide as it would go on this setup.

I don't really care for the staggered setup, plus I like being able to rotate my tires. Besides, its a comfy 4 door with balls, not a track car Cool

I think he's suggesting that you have too much tire and not enough wheel. It's all personal preference though. That, and tire price. Without even investigating sizes/prices, I probably would have opted for a 265 based on how the 275 looks on that wheel.

I thought the stock SRT wheel was a forged 20x9"? Just confused why you would step down in wheel width with such a wide tire compared to stock, unless I'm misunderstanding things.

And WL is right, 275 width tires are a lot for a 8" wide wheel. I would've gone with a 9 or 9.5" wheel for a closer match of tread width to wheel, but that's my personal preference as I'm currently running a 265 on a 9.5" wide wheel.

Most people mod a SRT for performance and use a staggered setup with 10 or 10.5 rears. If they wanted to stay the same size, they usually keep the factory wheels since they are forged. Why spend the money on an SRT if you mod for looks, might as well buy an RT and save $10k

My factory wheels looked like poo, they were poorly taken care of by the previous owner of the car, damage done long before I had the car.

I am not most people.

I paid 20k out the door for this SRT, at the time an R/T in the same condition was asking 18k, For better seats / suspension / brakes, its kind of no brainier. In fact I don't know why anyone would ever settle for the lower model if they can afford the better one, performance points aside.

As for the other comments on tire width, yes I should step it down, but those are what I had mounted on the stock wheels and seeing as I just dropped a grand for that set of tires a few months ago, it would seem a bit silly to not get my use out of them just because I changed wheels.

Everyone else - Thanks for the kind comments. Laughing

How bad is bad? I'm just curious if they'd be salvageable with some repair and a refinish, you could either resell or put them back on. I got nothing against the style of the new wheels, just from a practical perspective, going from a forged 20x9 wheel to a cast 20x8 and trying to squeeze the 275's on them seems regressive.
