About two weeks ago I noticed something acting up in the transmission. Turned out to be the torque converter during lockup starting to shudder under a load. I've been babying it to hopefully get by until next Friday. Reason being is I leave for a cruise next Saturday and would rather them have the car when I'm on the cruise so it's not a headache finding a car for me to drive around.

We were planning on stopping in the shop on Friday (today) so that they could just look it over. Well, on my way home tonight; about an hour ago, the transmission took a s**t. At a stop sign about to make a left I hear a thud as I try and accelerate and the entire car is surrounded and filled with smoke. Turn car off and open hood, seems like fluid came out of the filler dipstick, spraying over the manifolds causing the massive amounts of smoke. It calms down and I get back in the car start it up and head home. I give it gas to go and I'm at 4k rpm before I'm at 15 mph and the transmission is screaming bloody murder. The shifts are probably a good 1 second delay, get home park it and lolll at the car in shame.

Looks like they're gonna have to overhaul this entire transmission AGAIN. Sucks, but let them do what they need to.

Damn, Idk if your car is worth all the trouble... Might as well sell it after the 4th attempt.. better yet that shop should just buy you a tep and throw it in so they don't have to deal with you anymore... Lol I'm bout to do a swap tomorrow but having a hard time finding a decent thread for a 4t65e to 4t65e.. just one has lesser miles and isn't messed up obviously..

agreed i'd get a tep trans and be done... what info you need to know on the 4t65e? i've rebuilt 3 transmissions within the past year so i've learned quite a bit besides doing the rebuild in college... and that's install, rebuild, then reinstall...

and to all reading this (not to threadjack) but yes i'm back after a long dormancy on here... i miss this forum alot and i'll have a few new projects in place coming shortly hehe

Doubtful that they will just go ahead and buy a TEP transmission. I wish I could have them talk to Dave @ TEP so they can learn a little more about rebuilding these 4t65es....

ya it does take a bit of experience to know how to rebuild these things.

Went there yesterday to find out all they did was order a torque converter. If I'm not mistaken when a torque converter takes a s**t, it shoots clutch materials/debris throughout the transmission basically warranting for a complete overhaul. My dad is furious and we are going to go up there in an hour or so. My dad said if they don't overhaul it again, he's going to ask if the 1year warranty starts fresh after they put the torque converter in again. He know's they're going to say no, but he wants to hire a lawyer when we get back from our cruise next week.

I will keep y'all updated!!

Hope in one hand, s**t in the other...

Prior performance is indicative of future performance. My guess is Billy's shop is incapable of rebuilding a transmission just like my shop was incapable of test driving a vehicle to ensure it was operating properly.
