We traded the 2003 Blazer 4x4, and decided to get this 2007 Silverado 1500 WT. It may look like 4wheel drive but It's only 2WD but it has the long bed, 295 hp 4.8L V-8, and 305 ft.lbs of torque. 34 gal. fuel tank, A/C, AM/FM/CD player. Onstar, Towing package., 145 amp alternator and even has a bottle opener in bed for my beer. Cool Also has aftermarket 18 in. wheels. K & N AIR FILTER. This truck is definately made for towing. Even has tow hooks so when i get stuck. Laughing Not a lot of options. Carfax was clean but the grille was broken and front bumper was dented and the lower airdam was broke. Dealer said they would take care of it $1000 worth of damage but it was all cosmetic. Nothing behind the bumper or grille was damaged. Hard to believe $1000 for a plastic grille and plastic air dam and a metal bumper. Rolling Eyes Everyone that Dad shows the truck to loves it. And it is easy to spin tires and easy to get speeding tickets. Crying or Very sad The other day i was making a turn and these old fogeys poking along through the light. after 5-7 of these old bastards i jumped on the gas, rear tires broke loose. Shocked

Nice buy! Not a big fan of the 4.8 but it sounds nice with 3" straightpipes. Easy to light em up when you've only got 1500 pounds of truck on the rear tires Laughing

So what are some of the problems with the 4.8L that you don't like? Actually truck is nice especially after the grill and bumper got replaced yesterday. Now there is only 2 things i have to fix. First is dome lights don't come on when you open the doors. Tried the dome light override switch. no luck. Bulbs are good because they work if you turn them on manually. Second is previous owner when he installed the new rims didn't keep the Tire pressure monitoring sensors from the stock rims, so now i have the TPMS needs service light staring at me. summit racing has the sensors and valve stems for $43/ea. So i will be looking at the light for a while. Since the last 3 days i have purchased nerf bars to make it easier for Dad to get in, bed rail protectors..

Ok I need opinions on the last pic the one with the step bars. My Dad and his Friend are busting my nuts saying they are on wrong side. So the rubber step pad is toward the rear of bar. But every pic i find and the pic from deezee installations show the rubber step pad toward the front of bar and Dad and his friend are riding my ass saying the step bars should be taken off and put on the opposite sides. it could be personal preference but I put them on per instructions.

There's nothing really 'wrong' with it. My brother's '99 Z71 had the 4.8 and he had over 250k on it with no engine work needed. Sounded great, had enough power for what he needed. The 5.3 is just a bit bigger with a little more power. I know a two people with the 5.3 and their trucks have been problematic at all, either. But, it is what it is in the used vehicle market and the 4.8 truck you found is nice. I shouldn't have said 'not a big fan', I like the motor and would have bought it too, if it was a reasonable price. I should've instead asked why you opted for the 4.8 over the 5.3? Availability? A good deal?

I'd probably look into wether anyone has a bypass module or if it can be programmes out, personally. But I've had bad luck with tire pressure monitoring sensors.

My opinion is that you did it right. But it's there to protect the finish on the bar, so it all depends on how you (or your old man) gets into the truck. For what it's worth, the step bars on our Z71 were on with the footholds toward the front.

Can't help you with the dome light issue. Maybe see if there's a decent Silverado forum out there?

The reason we opted for the 4.8L was it was the only truck in DAds' price range

Here is some pics of truck at dealership before we bought it. you wil also see the damage to frontend. And checkout the center caps before and after i got done with them. Laughing But dealer replaced grille, bumper and bottom airdam. I replaced bug shield, And i will get the TPMS fixed. But we have had this truck since last Wednesday. and Already i have added the step bars. Bed rail protectors. All in all Dad is really happy with truck except everytime you fill up you need $100 bill. Shocked Center caps cleaned up easy with "0000" steal wool and detailer. But when i first seen the center caps and as bad as they were rusted i wasn't sure they would clean up. i told Dad if not I will sand them and paint them gloss black.

Nice looking truck! As others have said, very clean!

I've thought about replacing my current Silverado with the latest generation, but the current truck is still going strong at 120k and those 5.7L Vortecs, although thirsty, are tanks of an engine.

If I was going to upgrade though, I'd definitely consider the 4.8L. Not a lot of appreciable difference for what most people use a truck for nowadays.

the new 4.8 is nothing like the old 4.8. We have the 4.8 in the 00 Silverado and its a pig. But the newer version of the 4.8 is much more betterer Cool

broken grille? i thought mike schmidtt could hit it with a baseball bat and not break it (old farts will understand this reference). great looking truck for what you need it for. badaZZ looking rims, and the opener in the bed is either so yooper or hillbilly (depending on your area of the country). peace, john

The Grille on these new trucks are flimsy. I have seen kids toy trucks made out of tougher plastic. But i do like the truck, The neighbors have Fords, Dodges, Toyotas. And this truck sits higher than all of them. As for the bottle opener in bed, that is from previous owner. Laughing The truck came from Ohio so not sure if hillbilly or redneck. Laughing Not that i won't get some use out of it. But nowadays all the beer bottles have the twist caps. Razz The 4.8L is nice, it is a V-8, andl like pushrod said 5.3L has 7 hp more so not a big difference.

Went to feedmill to get Dad's friend some fertilizer for his garden. and when i pulled in everyone flocked around the truck, thinking it was 2012, and they all liked the rims too. I agree with everyone the rims does maked it look badass. Laughing Makes me want to trade my shiny chrome rims on the impala for black rims. Cool

And of course we are starting to learn the if you have a truck, everyone wants you to haul something for them. But I'm always willing to help a neighbor or friend out. So not a big deal.
