Need to replace the fan on my 2001 3.8 LS. I see a standard and a HD option on the fans, will the HD unit be a direct fit? What might the difference be between the two?

Yes, its a direct fit and I have one on my car now. If you look at your fan you have two motors, one small and one larger. The hd fan incorporates two of the larger fans and may help engine temps stay lower. I have the hd fan, 180* t stat and pcm tuned with early fan turn on and my temp gauge never breaks halfway, even on the hottest day with ac blowing, idling sitting in traffic. When my fan went bad it was the smaller one that went too.

Yep, I have the hd fans as well.

Might need to go back to the regular ones once I install headers though, for clearance.
