I just wanted to express my thoughts about my impala. I have had grand aspirations of top swaps, 20 inch rims, and other mods, but I had basically come to accept my limitations as a DIY -er. Just saying, im kind of saddened by my lack of ability. I always think im going to work on it then it never happens. Feel my pain. lol. More or less I am accepting that I am not a mechanic.

I have to say that is one thing I really liked about this forum when i visited daily in the past.

I went from a how do you change your oil to being the office mechanic. A little time and willing to look up how to and ask questions will send you a long way.

Im With Stupid I went from barely being able to do an oil change to tearing into the engine to replace gaskets with the guidance from the forum and the assistance of a factory service manual. Half of the battle is being confident in yourself. If you think you can do and have an idea of what needs to be done, most of the time you can take care of it without any issues.

When i came here, i didnt even know what it looked like or where the transmission was located. Now, i have swapped transmissions in my brother 300zx (which is basically mine since he moved out and stores it here, and even done a engine swap on the 300zx..

Without this forum, i most likely would not have gotten into anything mechanical with cars whatsoever.

All in all, just dont be scared and have confidence that you will eventually get it together and have the nuts to try something new..

Gotta try things to learn things. Get in there and do something you're not 100% comfortable with. If you make it through unscathed, good. If you break something, you're hopefully learning something, too.

Hell, even if you know what you are doing... something will still break. You need to accept that it will happen and not get upset when it happens.

I think my first post on this forum, I was asking about body kits.

Now I am well on my way to having a 5 speed Impala.. Don't give up.

Yeah man.. I know it can be frustrating tho when you don't have the funds or time to do it but your full of dreams.

At first I didn't even know how to change my own oil. But between my old maxima and the old impala (R.I.P.) I learned how to change my own oil, Rotate tires, Put on new rotors and pads, Change my Intake (granted, Hot air, but i still did it) and heck 2 summers ago replaced my own radiator. You just have to have patience, give yourself time, don't try to rush, be well prepared and don't beat yourself up when mistakes happen. Everyone had to start somewhere

Oh it also helps to have a second car or trusted friend who doesn't mind driving you around or helping out when you get stuck...

Edit** Iffy selling all of his stuff makes me want to buy another impala and take his parts. LOL
