I removed and sold my LSS/SS tails, but I miss the look and painted my spare taillights to look like LSS/SS tails. Problem is, after sanding the lenses to eliminate the DOT lettering, I ran out of higher grits after 400.

Looking for confirmation that to get a glossy finish, I should wetsand the taillights up to 2000 grit and spray clearcoat to finish it up.

Input?

I haven't gotten back to this yet, have a baby due in a few weeks and trying to wrap up renos before she arrives.

When I do get time to work on it again, I should wetsand up to 2000, then spray a clearcoat, then polish the clearcoat?

Or would I polish between sanding and spraying clear, then polish again after spraying clear?

Ok, this came from a friend that has some experience. Wet sand to 2000. Polish lense. Clear coat, wet sanding between coats. Coat up to 5 coats for a wet/polished look.
