2005 Chevrolet Impala

PostPosted: Wed May 23, 2012 12:43 am    Post subject:  Bench for Bucket Swap...help...PLEASE Reply with quote

I own a 2005 Impala with the dreaded front 60/40 split bench (driver side has power with side airbag). I want to swap them out and put in buckets. The local wrecking/scrap yards seem to have a decent selection....what I want to know is this.

What years from other impalas will provide a direct fit (no mods necessary)...I want to maintain the power seat on the driver side (I don't care about the airbag one way or the other). Also, will other W-Body GM car seats fit directly, for example, grand prix or monte carlo...if so, what years and models of those will fit?

any impala the front will fit. the 06+ rear seats will fit with a little modification. the front seats from pontiac grand am and grand prix should fit as well. if you do a search for seat swap you should find a ton of threads because its a well discussed topic. misnah(sp) swapped 02 regal seats into his. a few people have done the 06+ SS seats and GXP seats as well. good luck.

Looks like a nice swap! Did you end up color matching that center console?

finding good seats at the right price is going to be difficult. the search button isnt as easy as it was in the past but I think there are at least a couple more threads of people doing the swap and many talking about the swap and what seats fit.

I'm looking now too so if I find something I will share. I'm worried about cutting into the body in the rear to get seats to fit.
