Yesterday I was delivering in my 2000 Impala 3.4. It has 109,000 on it, and it started running rough. I didn't think much of it because it was rainy and cold, and she gets temperamental sometimes. But as I was going out on another delivery, I started it up, and I was burning coolant like a mofo. A huge cloud developed behind my car, and I thought the car was on fire. But what I thought was smoke was quickly replaced with the smell of burning coolant. Has anyone had this happen? Is it a head gasket, cracked head, or something else? I have yet to get it towed and have my mechanic look at it. If it is a cracked head, what should I do? Should I have the head replaced? My buddy has a 3400 from a grand am with 34k on it. I donít know what he wants for the motor, but would that be the route to go? Any info would be great.

probably a combination of both cracked head/gasket. Have it checked out and if nothing else was wrecked just get a pair of new heads and all new top end gaskets. Considering what happened, I'm not sure how bad it may be. Good Luck!
