There are HD versions of the axles or at least there used to be. But Id worry more about the tranny going with the turbo before the CV joints again.

My ISS clicked before I had it serviced. Have you looked into the ISS yet?

my vote is it is the ISS shaft needing some lubrication. I would be interested to hear about the turboing. I also have a 2002 LS.

Mine was more of a loud POP or a sharp "click".

i don't have to worry about blowing my tranny, i had a new one just installed 1000 miles ago. i was assured by three different experienced mechanics that my transmission will hold if i put a turbo in there just fine. what exactly is the ISS shaft?

you can do a search on here for the instructions to giving it a lube job.

Basically it is the steering wheel shaft. You crawl under your dash, figure out a way to get under there, move down the protective cover, and spray it with some grease. There is a good article in here somewhere for it.

I just had my transmission rebuilt, i didn't think to ask the dealer about converting it/upgrading it to an HD. maybe when i hit 200k miles. Smile but it was a good group of guys, so i don't think it will go out any time soon.

Not to burst your bubble, dude, but your mechanics are utterly wrong. Having a turbo will destroy a stock 4t65e quickly, even if its brand new. It may hold for longer because its new, but trust me, you turbo that thing and you better start saving for a built trans.

Edit:

sounds like the intermidiate shaft that goes from the steering wheel to the rack and pinion steering...they did not greese them enough at the factory...the kit can be bought at the dealers.

for the trans issue, you need one of the "black" 4T65E Trans, they are beefy.. I think the W Body store sells them.

when someone asked what I do with my paycheck I told them , half of it I spend on gambling, women and booze, the other half I waste.
