Been hearing a weird bird the last couple days, finally found him in a neighbors tree...

and the damage...

Pics taken with Nikon D3100, 55-300mm lens. Bird was at the very top of a 100+ year old maple tree. I tried to get a better shot, but couldnt get any closer to the tree without him flying off

I'd say by the look of that hole, he is plaining on taking up residents.

PushrodPower and Hemi are going to be disappointed that this isn't the kind of pecker they had in mind when you said you had photos of your woody.

Is the little bastard at least quiet at night/early morning? I've got a slightly mentally challenged cardinal hanging around my house that thinks the appropriate time to sing is between the hours of 2 and 6....

Last spring I had a terrible problem with a female cardinal that loved to stand on the Impalas' doors and look at herself in the side mirrors. She crapped all over the doors. I had the car windows down one day and found her looking into the side mirror and found the inside door panel crapped upon. I cut four sleeves off of two old shirts and when parked at the house, had to cover the side mirrors.

Maybe he meant the woodpecker was going to bring some friends to live with him in said hole.
