I was just on my way out and my car started going crazy! The message center was flashing Open door/trunk, service vehicle(car with wrench) the parking brake light was flashing on/off.(I dont have a parking brake), the doors were unlocking and locking by themselves and the trunk opened by itself and the lights on the radio went off. It was doing all this while I was driving. What the deuce is going on?
I'm guessing this is an electrical problem?

Could be a BCM, but my car also wigged out on me when the battery was pretty much shot. I'd check the voltage on the battery, check all the grounds and then suspect the BCM.

Ok thanks i just took the battery to get it tested. But I think it might be the BCM. So I'll look into that. Is that doable without taking it to a garage, I read somewhere you have to get the BCM programmed.

You need a Tech 2 to do the programming on the new BCM (they can't be taken from the scrapyard as the are a one and done item). This limits you to a dealer or a large independent shop with access to a tech 2. Getting it done at the dealer is around 500 bucks and if you manage to find a shop you could get out for 350.

Ok so I changed the battery last week that seemed to have fixed the problem, until last night. Now everytime I go to start my car I have to use my portable booster. Does this have something to do with the BCM,or is this another problem. I guess I'm gonna go get a Haynes manual and test everything that needs to be tested.

I would suggest a BCM problem or bad grounds. But I'm curious. You say you don't have a parking brake? Cool

When I had the brakes done the parking brake assembly was seized so I had them remove it,I had never used it anyways.
I guess I'll look into changing the BCM.
I miss the days when all you needed to fix your car was a screw driver, vice grips and duct tape.

Did you have the alternator checked when the battery was replaced?

I knew for a fact the battery was finished so I didn't think of checking the alternator.
But I just did it and it charges at 14.5V at idle. But as soon as I turn off the car the battery voltage goes down to 11.25V and wont restart unless I boost it.

Well, I ended up getting rid of my Impala. Too many things to fix on it,tranny was done, bunch of little electrical problems and having to add oil every week strated getting annoying.
I ended up giving it as a trade in for a 2012 chevy sonic.

HaHa
Suprisingly it's a pretty fun car to drive. I just drove it from Montreal to Petawawa,on the way back stopped in Ottawa. Total of about 750km,
It's no Impala but it was a smooth and comfy ride.
I figured I'd get something a little more reliable, since Ive had bad luck with cars.
This is my 13th in 16 years, and my 4 year old was getting tired of pushing.
