on a 2004 impala LS is it possable to add a factory amp.I have seen them at the wreckers in the truck between the rear speakers. would the wiring be in there some where. thanx

I don't know why anyone would even try. The stock amp is POS.

i did n't know they were that bad ,how do you go about adding an after market amp to the stock am/fm /cd player?

You'd use some line level converters to convert the signal into an RCA output.

cool ,,you got any suggestions on a good amp and speakers for me ,nothing too crazy,but i like to crank it up a bit

I personally love the Pioneer D-Series. I replaced the front and rear speakers in my SS with these, $177 total shipped for all 4. For an amp I have used Alpine, Kicker, Kenwood and Pioneer. I like them all.

The factory amp isn't bad for a factory system, but its def not worth going through the trouble of installing one

Pretty much any respectable aftermarket brand speaker will be better than the stock speakers. If you aren't using an aftermarket amp you need to be careful as some Imps have 2 ohm speakers vs the standard 4 ohm speakers sold by most companies.

As far as an amp goes, again pretty much any respectable aftermarket amp will get the job done. Steer clear of junk like Boss, Crunch, Visinik, etc.
