Guy has a 98 regal gs. Looks clean as a whistle, but, this is what he emailed me...

About six months ago while leaving work I was pulling out of the parking lot and it just stoped running, the car was on and was on Drive but it didn't go when pressed on gas, like it was in neutural? Weird thing is that once you turn it off and then back on it will drive again for like 5-10mins then it will go back to "Neutural". as far as the exact reason why its doing this I dont know. I would have got it checked out awhile ago but in its current condition I dont feel comfortable driving like that. I have since got a new car that I use so I have no need for it and would rather sell it then fix it since I need the money.

I think its transmission related but Idk.

Thanks..

My first thought is that there might be something wrong with the shifter, shifter cable or the linkage that it goes to in the transmission if the car isn't stalling when he's having the issue. Other than that, I have no clue since I have never heard of the problem.

Thought that too, but wouldn't make sense if he restarted his car and it ran fine for a lil bit and repeated.. :/

It sounds like the front pump shaft sheered the splines and a tranny shop will have to repair it

There is a control unit if it is a floor mount that is electronic I haven't heard of that going flaky, but I do know that the valve body control switch (sorry if I messed up on the name) flakes out it could do the same thing.
