Hey all. I was wondering if anyone has their front windshield tinted down to the AS-1 line? I'm curious to see what it looks like being that our windshield come tinted from factory with the blue faded tint on it. I want to get a 20% strip done across the top but don't want it to look dumb with the faded out blue part.

Any pics and/or suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks

It won't look dumb. At least, I don't think so. Once you get the strip in place, as long as your shop goes down to the AS1 line completely, you won't even notice the blue strip from the outside. It will be just fine.

If you are going to tint the strip, I recommend going with 5%. I had the Impala's front strip done @ 5% and did the same on the truck. 5% is much more practical than 20%. That blue tint strip does nothing for you, so go as dark as you can. You'll thank yourself later.

I think in that pic, it's a tad bit below the AS1 line.

Is that 20% or 5%?

@Arvetus The blue strip is useless to me, you're right. I think a 5% strip along the top would look good on top of my 70% tinted windshield. Right now I have 35% all around, and 70% on the front windshield.

How much do you guys think a 5% strip should run me?

I think that's actually 35%. I'm pretty sure I went the legal limit for Kansas with this car. My truck has 20% and the Mustang is 5% all the way around.

Here is the truck...

I don't have a good one of the Mustang up front.

Both vehicles I had done, the front strip was only $15 extra, but I had the rest of the windows done also.

If I remember right, I think I went with 5% on both the vehicles I had done, maybe it was 15%...I can't remember. I am not sure if there are limits on the tint as long as it's not extending below the AS1. I know here in TX, there are no limits as long as it's not below the AS1. It does help a lot.

I think I have about 50% on my Monte, it's a tad below the line, but no one has cared.

I don't know if I have a good shot that shows it...

*edit* you can see it in this shot, I have since removed the Monte Carlo SS vinyl.

The guy who tinted my car originally is going to do a 5% strip for me tomorrow for $25 + 15% off. He's a really good guy and does great work. It should be done around 1pm EST tomorrow and I'll have pics for you all!

Thanks again for all info and pics you've given
