new guy here and this topic may have been covered previously, but i was unable to find it through search.

i have a 2000 chevy imapala

the factory radio started going in and out, meaning that the sound would just abrubtlly stop, no static or anything. all the controls and illumination still works.
i thought that it was a bad radio or antenna, so i changed it over to CD, but the sound wouldnt work there either. after a few minutes the sound would return and everything is fine, sometimes playing for an hour, and sometimes going in and out every minute or staying out for 20 minutes at a time.

i thought the radio was bad, so i ordered another factory OEM radio and installed it, had to get it unlocked using the OBD computer. but after just 1 day, the newly installed radio started doing the same thing.

my thoughts were then the antenna might be bad or a bad connection, but if that doesnt sound right, the antenna wouldnt affect the CD would it.

i also know there is some type of junction box near the back seat, someone told me that could be bad, not sure the proper name of it.

but i am asking if anyone else has had this issue and what they did to fix it.

i am at a loss.

thanks in advance!!

The "box" is the amplifier (if you're talking about the one under the rear deck lid in between the rear speakers.)

It sounds like you have a wiring issue somewhere
