I'm not too worried about how much its going to cost if it looks like any of the redesigned Chevy models. Camaro, Malibu and Impala have not impressed.

They seem to only be able to design half a nice car. Well I hate the Camaro all around but I don't mind the new Malibu and this Impala from the front myself but the rear is terrible IMO. Its like they start drinking once they get to the C-pillar.

Or they can't get the interior to match the exterior and vice-versa. I hate the looks of the Camaro, but I enjoyed the comfort of the interior and the engine. I like the looks of most of the GMC vehicles, but the interiors and engines suck.

Strangely, I saw the new Impala last week, coming the other way- from far away I thought it was the new Accord or maybe even the new Malibu, but it was too big and bulky to of been either of those. First thing I noticed was the single-grille with a huge Chevy badge on it. But the details that convinced me it was an Impala were the curved and bulky rear quarter panels and the rear tail lamps - I kinda feel bad now that I didn't turn around and follow it, lol...

I wish I could of grabbed a shot of it, but it came by too fast - not sure if it had an Ontario or Michigan plate either - stranger still, what was this Impala was doing out on the back-roads of Durham (Ontario). Visiting an old friend in Oshawa perhaps?...

The current Impalas are all built in Oshawa - Isn't that the case with the new ones as well? The odd pre-sale factory car will end up on local roads, either in the hands of a dealer or a manufacturer employee, usually.

Yep. My brother works as a regional sales rep for Ford and was tooling around in a pre-production Flex for 5 or 6 months before it was released to the public. I'd imagine GM does the same thing.

You butchered that quote but thanks for the confirmation Laughing

I'm not sure if the manufacturers really get much valuable feedback from these preprod test cars, but I'm sure they get some.

I've read that high-sales Corvette dealers and the some technical/engineering staff got preproduction C6s for actual road testing. They ended up back on the assembly line for new powertrains and various other parts as needed, but it throws the vins off or something like that.

Fixed the butchered quote... I have no idea how I pulled that off.

Anyways, at least in the case of the pre-production Flex my brother had, they were using it as a test bed for a revision of the Ford Sync system. It was a good thing too, since it was a major work in progress.

they had one on TV the other day when they were covering the AutoShow. Looked ok, have to see it in person. I wont be on line at the dealer waiting for one and definitely wont be buying.

i think the aggressive front is what really gets me.

Like most cars tho, Its best to wait after the first production year for them to get the kinks. out. I do foresee certain issues that will pop up over time and it will be interesting to see how they address them (i.e. Cost or redesign)

- The pop up nav/radio/touchscreen. The fact it has a chubby hole behind it where your phone can sit and connect via usb is cool and convenient (as well as the two in the arm rest) but what will happen when it no longer pops up, or or gets stuck open? will be interesting to see if eventually they just make it stationary. and the repair cost of it too.

- the cloth dashboard. It will fade over time. Even tho I love the two tone color, I think they will go back to just a regular dash board to save on cost and materials.

- Chrome. Its alot of chrome on this thing. I love it, but how well will it stand up to the elements? Im interested in seeing a "non chrome" version.

- the rear wheel line. I wish they would lose it and "smooth it out"

I saw it at the Philly Auto Show. I like it a lot better than the current model

- Front looks fine, I like the look of it

- Interior looks better than before, not sure what the floor mats are on the dash, looks weird

- Once again, GM designers started drinking early and were plastered by the time they got to the back of the car.

Im still holding out hope for the SS, but Im sure GM will find a way of screwing that up as well.

I WANT A MALOO!!!!!
