My drivers side power window is stuck in the down position. I tool the switch apart and cleaned it hoping that it would go back up, but no dice. I get a noise that sounds like the window motor engaging, but it doesn't move. I also get the little bit of head light dimming when I use my power windows at idle. The drivers side window has also been a bit slower to open/close fully than the passenger side.

I'm fairly certain this means my motor/regulator is shot, but wanted a second opinion before I spring for the motor/regular combo.

Upon closer inspection, the guts of the switch actually melted...

how the f..... lol

I was going to suggest that the chain on the window regulator broke. When that snaps the window will roll down by itself and stay down lol.

I had to use some clamps on the inside of my door to hold it up one friday last summer since I was working and it was storming lol

I pulled everything apart this afternoon and verified that the chain was intact. Ended up tearing the switch down and the white plastic part between the contacts were black and warped (as was the copper contacts within the switch). Just for s**t and giggles, I put the thing back together and tried to operate the switch.

Everything was fine and well when pushing the switch to open the window, but it sparked when I pushed it to go up. I immediately shut the car off and removed the switch and ordered a new one from Amazon... hopefully that fixes the problem as I don't have the time to replace a regulator/motor for another two or three weeks.

Got everything back together tonight and noticed that when the switch short circuited, it blew out the LEDs in my power window switch and door lock switch on the drivers side door. Oh the joys of craptacular parts...
