My car has what I guess is the factory amp mounted under the rear deck. I have to say that IMO the bass hits a little too hard to be coming from just stock speakers, yet I don't see anything else besides the speakers (doesn't look like the previous owner had anything custom put back there either). Or maybe the speakers are just that damn good.

No hidden sub, although I am often asked when someone new gets into the car.

I would say the stock 6x9s produce more bass than anything else, so technically they are your subs...

no sub in the impala. The 6x9s are large enough to produce some bass notes. Ive been asked that too before i had my current set up.

My Rockford Fosgate 6x9s produce even more bass than the factory speakers. I'd guess you probably bought a car with upgrade speakers. Take a peak under the rear deck from the trunk and I bet you see something aftermarket tucked in there.

My mom's 2010 Malibu LTZ has a damn good sounding system in it. 6x9's in the rear deck and 6.5 components in the front (tweeters in the a pillar). We had an Acadia with the bose system..wow did that factory system blow my mom's Malibu out of the water!
