paint on back end just before tire is coming off?

I am just wondering on my 2004 impala just before the back tire just behind the back door, the paint is coming off in that area is there anything to stop this and what causes this too happen.

Theres many causes. Chip that spreads, salt and snow wear, etc. to prevent rust you can use touch up paint, but the only real option to fix it is repaint

I'm having the same problems..just starting this winter...made it 11 years with no rust lool..going to repaint soon..hate winters

yeah mine looks just like the paint is chiped off in that area
