With all due respect to the service that one of the members here provides.... I would like to find a "how-to" for the H-VAC bulb replacement. Every search of this forum has turned up only advise to send it in to a service...
I would rather do it myself.
What I am looking for is the tear down and possibly the schematics of the board so I can get the polarity right!! I thought I remember seeing a complete guide a few years ago on here... but I can no longer find it.
As usual, any and all help would be welcomed and appreciated.
Insane shot of the open faced sandwich that was the dash board!! Scary!
Please know that me wanting to do it myself is nothing in the way of a slight at you and your services!!! If I were to take it (along with my cluster) to anyone, I wouldn't even think of taking it anywhere else.
I am just that stubborn type of person who wants that sense of satisfaction of doing it myself.
I have constructed auto roll boards for the old school satellite systems for DiSH... when DTV was hack-able my own HU-Loaders... solder capacitors on all types of 'lectronics... so I figure I can do this without much trouble.
I keep thinking (perhaps foolishly) that the tear down of the dash board is going to be the hardest part. I had read about another member who said springs popped out and flew around in his car when he took his apart!
@BBE..whoops didnt realize he had an 04...just figured that was one of the thread he previously saw.
@cprince...the dash really is not bad at all. There should be no springs flying out as long as you don't take apart the headlight switch (which you dont have to touch to get the dash off). Just follow the walkthrough on impalahq and youll be good. And a side note, I know BBE said your board isnt as touchy, but I fried an HVAC board and just replaced it..its staying stock and half light until i get a little better at soldering lol Just be sure to give it plenty of cool off time inbetween attempts and youll be fine
Once again for those who have trouble with reading comprehension... the 00-03 HVAC is completely different than the 04-05 so the pictures are USELESS (not to mention that your technique is complete wrong as well...)
Just an FYI, there are no springs in the 04-05 HVAC as it's completely electronic (the 00-03 is half electronic, half mechanical)
