2004 Chevrolet Impala

PostPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2012 3:39 pm    Post subject:  Opinion needed on a purchase of Indy SS Reply with quote

Hi there all, i came across an indy edition 2004 chevy impala ss.
here's a link.
http://www.michaelsautoplaza.c.....le_id=OTMy

Do you think the price of 10,000 is a good offer? I test drove the car and i heard some belt squeal and the sunroof has to be pressed multiple times to close all the way. Any tips or anything like that i should look at? I plan to have a mechanic i trust look at it before i buy but just wanted to know if the naioa community had any tips.

Havent looked to see what they are going for, but the sunroof, just clean the tracks. Fixes that problem 95% of the time.

Id look into doing the 100K service right away. This way you know when it was done and that it was done correctly.

I wouldn't spend anywhere close to 10k on an 8 year old Impala with 90k on the clock. Too much crap starts to break around that point to warrant a car payment and the inevitable W-body repairs.

^ Ditto. To add to that, Kelly Blue Book isn't even offering that much, nor is NADA. If it helps you any, look at my garage and look at my mods to my SS. It is for me to keep track of what I have replaced, fixed, etc on it. Really hadn't done any thing special on it, just replacing all the freaking crap that has worn out and/ or broke. I have spent $10K on the car so far. Going up more when I buy the weather seals...

I would agree that $10K seems high for a car that old and that much mileage. I love the Indys and would take one in a second for the right deal, but not that much. Is the dealer willing to dicker any?

Hey CollegeImpala.
Mike the Russian has had that car for at least six months. I bought my 05 Imp LS last July and I saw that SS for sale back then. Was asking 10g then also. I would stay away from it. Where are u located. Cool

Definitely don't offer them their asking price.

If you're willing to pay asking price, make sure any work the car needs is done by them: there's no point in giving them full price for a car you need to fix up right away.
