Having trouble with an 2004 impala cranking over. Turning the key will not crank the engine. All the fuses and relays were checked. If you jump the starter by connecting the leads the engine will crank over, run for about 3 seconds and shutoff. We looked to see if their was a fuel cut off switch but we couldn't locate one.

The car also does not have the original radio so im assuming that disables the security system?

The car was parked and attempted to be started hours later and won't.

Thanks.

No security light? If you're jumping the starter and it starts and runs but then stalls 3 or so seconds later that's usually the security system shutting fuel off because you jumped the starter. I had this issue when my starter was going bad. It ended up being the solenoid. Also, check all body/engine grounds. On top of my starter going bad I was having a ground issue @ the transmission ground location that was causing it to intermittently start.

Sounds like passlock. Try cleaning the key and the cylinder with electical contact cleaner.
