Why on earth is there almost zero aftermarket SS covers available and the ones that are are over $600 :O I'm just frustrated that I can't find one for a reasonable price, LS ones are under $200 sometimes way under, and i can buy 40 of them from eBay etc. I needed to vent a bit after a lot of searching the cheapest I found was $450 for a refurbished one Sad

The SS was made for 2 years and that body style has been out of production for 7 years. Whatever is out there is out there. Can't imagine aftermarket parts suppliers are rushing to make this piece.

An LT with fog lights and the LTZ had that same bumper cover. The 2012 ALL models have it. The only difference is the fog light openings. Not sure how easy it would be to get the LS bumpercover and cut out the holes faking an SS part. If I had money I would be putting a Monte Carlo SS bumpercover on mine.

Oh OK NM then Embarassed I didn't even realize I clicked the 05 forum. Thought I was in 06.

I was working in the Oshawa plant when it was kind of about to switch to the new gen, and I noticed on some 05s that were sitting aroundwaitng to be looked over and sent out , the old SS bumper cover didn't look like it does out on the street. It was toothless, missing a large bottom part. So I realized it was 2 pieces. The bumper cover is different for the SS, but still needs another bit to complete it. I asked som eof the line guys about it and it turned out that the SSs got put on a truck to a small independent shop in Scarborough to receive that lower chin part as well as the rear wing, which of course is unique to the SS. Then they got trucked back to the Oshawa yard.
What I find a bit odd is they had a unique SS front bumper cover, which from the lower 2" up looks exactly like the LS with fog lights part, and still had to add a part to make it special. You would think if they are going to add a lower part to make it special, they could have engineered it so they used the LS(with fog lights) bumper cover and the added lower part.

The next gen SS doesn't even have a different bumpercover or even a unique rear wing, once the lower models adopted its wing.

You're not alone... there are a lot of us looking for an SS front bumper; I've been searching ebay and local scrap yards on a weekly basis for over 2 years now..
There is a white one on ebay going for $450 (which isn't too expensive) but its too expensive for me.. I feel that I can find one somewhere for under $300, so I continue my search

I found one, referb'd I think it was, but it was over 2 hours away from me, so I never got it. I kind of forgot about it too actually. I should see if he's still sitting on it.
