Can the coolant elbows be replaced without taking the tensioner off? I noticed the upper coolant elbow started leaking today, pushed it back in the hole and it's been doing good but I want to replace it before it ends up leaving me stranded.

I don't think it has to come off completely, but you at the very least need to remove the alternator and back the bolts out enough to get the clearance you'll need to get the elbows in and out. That being said it's a really simple job to do. Hardest part for me was getting the belt back on.

Okay, that works. I was hoping I didn't have to take the alternator or anything else off, but if that's what needs to be done, I'll do it! Looks like I have something to do Sunday!

Damn near if not already Impossible. Plus you want the extra room incase the O rings get stuck in the block, so you can Pry them out. It's not that bad..

I got the revised coolant elbows from NAPA - bigger o-rings + some RTV = they're not going anywhere soon. I changed them out last night in the driveway in about 45 minutes. Didn't loose that much coolant, but my overflow was already empty..but none the less it is done. The upper elbow was cracked at the entry point going into the belt tensioner and the part going into the LIM was completely melted and kept falling out if I pushed it back in.

It's all done now though. Completely bled the system and put 65 miles on her last night so she's fixed. Now hopefully nothing else needs to be done before we get the suspension done.

yeah. i didn't bleed the system enough so I was troubleshooting for days on why it was still running hot. I finally just let it bleed out coolant for a few mins. not an issue after that.
