its 50 bucks cheaper than milzy, and a quick quackulation shows the surface area of the plate is over 10% bigger than ours... big enough for me at this point. would the plenum even need to be ground down to match?

edit: i called to see if there were any promotions going on and now they are on sale for 89.99

FWIW, Rockauto crosslists the 3400 Impala throttle body and the 3400 Grand AM throttle body.

3mm, therefore 1083.3 square millimeters more surface area for air... sounds like a lot! 10% more air is 10% more air. i believe i calculated out the maximum ammount of air a NA 3400 can consume at 6000rpm while ago, and a 65mm throttle body was way overkill. Is the 3400 throttle body forwards compatible with a 3500 top swap if the future is bright?

Using what math?

BBEngineer

(3.14*29.5^2)-(3.14*28^2)=270.8
forgot the measurements are diameters not radius... oops...
still 11% more space...
(270.82500 / (3.14 * (28^2))) * 100 = 11.0012755

Yes, radius, not diameter

and in reality you are not going to realize a 10% increase because the throttle plate appears to still be the same size as the factory one, so it represents a choke point

I talked to him on the phone, he said its a 59mm plate. He highly recommended headers before this, saying he has a turbo 3400 running 300hp on the stock tb, and the gain from headers would be a way better bang for the buck...
