Cliff notes: LEDs in the stock housings tend to look like trash...

I like the design and idea, but only problem is what iffy said, and unless you are VERY precise i think it will come out looking like trash. Go for it though, cause that would be one unique piece of ass

Honestly, I don't think it matters how precise you are with it, you won't get around this issue.

yeah, no way around that. Only way to do it is tint out the red circles all the way. But then i dont know how you would get the LED lights to look "normal"

good luck hope you find a way

It's a picture from BBEngineer's attempt at LED tail lights in stock housings. The issue is the textured inside of the housing causes the light to refract in a few different directions, so instead of a crisp LED, you end up with a mishapen blob of light.

I am aware of this, i was going to make the leds go around the outside of the textured part

It doesn't look like you have considered that in your photo shop. To get away from the textured surface you need to be way closer to the edge of the housing.

I'm 99% sure its not possible to actually get "outside" of the textured face on the inside of the lights. Even if you do, you're still going to have the lite brite effect without a proper diffuser.

You'd have to wet sand and polish that down to get it a smooth surface then add your own refraction lens to get that kind of effect. Its less about the LEDs than finding the right diffusion method.

It's not really possible at all, even if you take apart the lense housing you get this...

You would have to sand it smooth like Helldo said.
