Hey guys, My upper motor mounts (dogbones) are worn out. The parts that screw onto the radiator support are flipped and aren't worn out, but the other bones that mount up to the motor part are. There is way too much play in them, and they are dry rotted. Should I just get the shortened dog bones from W-Body Store? I can feel the motor move when I'm in 4th lockup and I let on and off of the gas..that's how much movement they've got.

Should I just go with two of the ANCHOR Part # 2866 off of Rockauto for $12 each?

Do they have replacement OEM inserts for the bracket? The part that I flipped? I'd replace that as well if it's not too hard. I can replace the whole bracket for $22 each but looking for a cheaper alternative.

I just went through the same thing on the Monte Carlo. You can't get new inserts for the dog bones (but Intense sells some poly ones if you want them). I had a spare set from the junkyard lying around so I threw those in. Are you lowered? If not, don't worry about getting the shorter dog bones and get the Anchor ones you posted or get a set from the junkyard.

As far a the rubber in the mount near the radiator support, those aren't replaceable. The dealer will sell you a new bracket/bushing combo, but those aren't cheap.

Gotcha, I don't want to go thru the junkyard just to have those wear out soon. I'm done doing thing the half assed way - I want it done right the first time so I don't have to worry about it again. Not sure I want poly - don't want the vibration.

We are thinking about lowering the car 1-1.5 inches eventually, but not for awhile..and when we do it, unless the vibration is bad that's when I'll make the decision. I guess I'll get the ANCHOR ones off RockAuto.

The rubbers in the radiator support mounts aren't too bad. They're the ones from my old car and they're flipped. They don't have a lot of wear, but if it was possible to just change them out I would while I was in there. Looks like I'll wait until those are completely shot to change them.

How is the ride quality with those, or rather idle vibration etc? I have been thinking of purchasing some in the future, but didn't know if they would rattle your teeth out sitting at a stop light. Laughing

I think he was saying he had a spare set of dog bones from the junkyard - meaning they were OEM rubbers.

I think if you have a tuned PCM where the idle RPM is increased, the vibration isn't as bad. I know right now with my stock PCM at like 650rpm with my worn out mounts I have some vibration. If I raise the RPMs to like 750 - 850 everything goes away.

I can't imagine it would be all that much more than the poly motor mounts themselves. If they were cheaper, I'd pick up a pair but I'm pretty much done with upgrades on the Monte.

just dont go poly everything then you wont vibrate, if you go poly uppers but leave the rest or get new oems for the bottom youll be fine. specially with the raised rpms.

Gotcha. For now, I think replacing just the dog bone part with the ones from RockAuto will be good & fix the clunking I'm feeling. I'm gonna try and get a video to show you all just how much movement there is, there's a considerable amount of play in those top mounts.

Pretty sure my 93 octane tune PCM will be here today, with raised line pressures Very Happy

Damn. Yeah we have 87, 89 and then 93 here. I've been running 93 on my stock PCM the last two weeks and cannot for the life of me get ANY KR*. Even WOT up to 95mph nothing over .4* of KR. I hope it stays that good with the tuned PCM. We shall see!

Yep, I'm pretty excited to see what the "off the shelf" tune does for my car. Should have better results with the 93 tune over the 87 tune which is nice.

Do you happen to have any in-car videos of your exhaust? It would be nice to hear how loud your exhaust is inside because you have the resonator deleted. I know when my resonator was leaking on my 2001 it was loud as balls and rather annoying. I want my catback a little louder at idle without having to do too much. & at the same time I'd obviously delete the u-bend, but I'm really just looking to see how big of a difference the resonator makes when you are INSIDE the vehicle, driving.

My car after the pcm tune, can hear the exhaust nicely. downpipe was not installed yet.
All windows closed, loaded the car to 2000rpms then let go of the brake spun to 3500 rpms but held same amount of throttle till 4200'sh rpms then floored it, I started a turn lil after 60mph and being dark I wasnt gonna risk it so shut down.
