So I was finally able to take the TB off, (first Time) thanks to a link I found on here. The front was pretty clean but the back was a little nasty. I've seen worse on here. But got it all cleaned up.
So my question is this. When I took the TB off, right behind where the TB sits (not the TB itself, but behind it) I wanna say intake manifold but I'm drawing a blank, there is a nickel size port on the bottom that loops around to the back. That hole was all gunked up and I couldn't really seem to get it all that clean. Mostly I was afraid of using a brush or something, didn't want anything falling down there. So what is that hole and should I take it all apart again and get it clean? And if so what's a good way to clean in.

I'm trying to get some engine work over the next couple of weeks done before I start a new job. Any extra advice would be welcomed.

hard to picture what you are talking about. is it on bottom of the UIM? there's a coolant spot where coolant goes in the tb from the mani on the bottom side

Are you talking about the EGR tube/pipe?

Yeah, its on the bottom of the UIM. Its not a rubber tube but a casted metal tube. It looks like it goes up the back of the engine a couple of inches to the bottome of what I beleive is the EGR. If someone posts a pick of the UIM with the TB off I could point to it. I'll see if I can find one 'til then.

Ahhh now it sounds like your talking about the EGR. It goes into the Lower Intake Manifold

Yeah, that get's pretty crusty sitting in there just because of the nature of what it does. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
