I have a 2003 Impala LS that will just shut off whether I am going 80 mph or sitting at a traffic light. Problem occurs more frequently in damp weather. I am unable to drive the vehicle any distance due to this dangerous condition.

I have hads the car at both my mechanic and dealership several times. They are unable to diagnose any problem. In fact, the Impala conked out across the street from the dealership the last time I was there.

Any ideas/suggestions???

Thank you.

Steve

I had a similar issue and it ended up being the crank shaft position sensor. If you can fire the car back up immediately after it cuts out, I'd start looking there.

That'd be my guess too. Probably the CKP sensor. Check to see if you ahve spark at the plug wires when it is no start.
