I am just curious as to who here would consider buying a new Impala if an all wheel drive version came out in 2013/14?
Yes, I know its highly doubtful, but if it were to happen, who would be interested and why?

There was one, maybe 2 mentions of all wheel drive. But not what I was looking for. I am asking who would consider buying one if it did in fact come with the option of all wheel drive.

I'd be interested if it was a real, Subaru or Audi style 50/50 split full time AWD system, and not a 90/10 part time like they stick on the minivans. It would be nice if it didn't add too much weight, either.

Same here. I don't want what I call "fake" 4-wheel drive. I want all 4 wheels under power all the time. But even then, I don't see myself buying another impala any time soon.

I would opt to buy a proper AWD system from a manufacturer well-known for their AWD systems.

Not to say I wouldn't buy another impala... mine has been alright to me and still runs well.... but life is too short to keep buying the same car over and over again - change the scenery once in a while!

I bet GM does something like this in the next few years. Chrysler and Ford both offer it on their full-size sedans. So, I bet GM will watch and see how the other "Big Two" do with their offerings. However, I bet the Taurus will do good. Hell, it's even going to be standard on the police version.

I think here in the north eastern states AWD would prove to be very valuable in cars.

jmlock,i think the AWD Taurus may be a major consideration with law enforcement around here.I think it would make a good "year round" car.High hp and tq in a RWD vehicle don't work to well here in our NY winters. However, add AWD to the mix and now you have something....

I have talked to a few NY state Troopers and they tell me,"We love our 2WD persuit Tahoes, but they are almost worthless in the winter".
