Just a little update on my blazer

Awaiting the transplant. 5.3 out of an 04 sierra, internals looked brand new, only had 60,000 miles on it. Gonna get the SDPC Ht1 truck cam, already got the ls9 valvesprings and ls7 lifters, and chromoly pushrods.

Some more parts

Its a LS truck motor, its a 327(323 actually). Kinda like what comes in the new impalas, but designed for a truck. Just gonna carb it instead of the efi. The only andvantage to efi is the mileage, I really dont care about that, dont drive it a whole lot.

You're cheating!!!!! Twisted Evil Laughing

I looked long and hard into an LS swap, still want to do it, but it will be a full EFI setup with throttle by wire TB. I wish I had a place to store it, passed on a 6.2L out of a rolled truck.... $1200

Awesome!! We have a lot of local guys going that same route. Guys are putting down great numbers using junk yard motors. Some keep the EFI and go the turbo route, others just go carbureted. Keep us updated!! Very Happy

I just didnt see the reward in the efi, I felt more comfortable modding with a carb vs having to mess with a tune. I can still program the box, it can be plugged into a laptop.

I gave 250 bucks for the motor at the local junkyard Very Happy. I was amazed how clean everything was on the inside, still has the hone marks in the cylinder walls. The upper intake was rough, but that just made it a prime candidate for carbing it.

Here is a vid of the basically the same engine, the cam Im getting has more duration and lift, and the head work should give it more compression and let it breathe better, but you get the idea.

Very nice.

For me, the EFI would be for efficiency and drivability. I want to resto-mod a car so bad, all modern drivetrain / suspension with the classic body. I want to have my cake AND eat it too!!!!!!

its still awaiting the damn transplant. Its drueling like i am. Its all done, all it needs is a carb, flywheeel, and all my accessories. Im gonna run it before I put it in. Nothin major done, a small 214/ 218-559/563 lift cam, heads worked slightly, shaved .030 off them. New pushrods, upgraded rocker trunnions, basically all top end stuff. New gaskets everywhere

Cant tell in the pics, but its a dark metalflake called blacknight. Look under the intake or behind the wp in 2nd pic and you ca barely see the grey metalflake. I dont like light colors on the blocks, shows every little spec of grime

If you remove the 88 front license plate and replace it with a 24 one, it will give you an extra 20hp Razz. Looks like shes gonna be a beast and I personally cant wait to hear it.
