Parents had tigerpaws on an old z34 lumina back in the day. Seemed to be an ok tire. Didn't have issues.

Tiger Paws... commonly found at Firestone dealers. Mom's Regal has a set on, 15-in white walls. They seem to ride nice. Two of 'em are lower on tread and have I'd say a summer left, so I started looking into replacement cost for a couple. Not exactly cheap little tires! These were the AWP II's. She kind of wants to keep the WW though, and I picked up a nice set of new chrome Century caps for 'er anyway, so I'm sure a couple new AWP II's will be in the next year here. Maybe next fall when they come off for the winter set. We'll see how the summer pans out.

most OEM tires are more than their aftermarket counterparts. OEM tires have different specs and sometimes different sidewall and tread design. Some manufacturers carry both the OEM style and their own version, with their own version being far less $$

Well now I'm a little confused by this. Would their own version be the same model and all?

it could be, some OEM want a different designation (GT-A vs GT), some dont care and there could be 2 different tires with the same name. Iff you look on tirerack, you can sometimes see (OEM Equip.) next to a tire in a particular size. They may offer the same size as non-OEM for a cheaper price, usually there is something different.

I learned this years ago when I needed tires for my Dodge Dakota. Went to the local GoodYear to price the tires that came on the truck. The tire came in at $120ish, the same tire, same name, same submodel but without the OEM change in the rating (LT rating vs P rating), the P rated tire was $89. The specs were identical, but since they used a P tire on a truck, they required them to have the LT rating. This little change in the sidewall lettering would have cost me $30 per tire more.
