Have an '04 ss and was wondering where the fuel pump access door is. I searched and find only people talking about it but not a specific location. There was a mention of the backseat and trunk, but before I start splitting carpet I was wanting for sure info from mi fellow impala compadres. Also mention of they went away with it around '04?
Reason for asking, car stalled out today, when trying to start. Wont start feels clogged. When trying to turn the engine two sounds came coming from trunk area, almost two loud heartbeat sounds, clunk clunk. Thats why I think it's the fuel pump. I'mma check and make sure its not fuel filter tomorrow, but just wanted some info tonight.
Thanks

My 05 doesn't have one Crying or Very sad If you do have one it's very easy to find. Pull the back seat, then pull the trunk carpet back.

Depends if you are going for AC Delco or not. Delco's are the factory ones but super expensive (pm zspot for a price). Aftermarkets can be had for 160

Changed the fuel filter and noticed when turning key there was no gas coming from the line off the gas tank. That should indicate that the fuel pump is out? Also the access door is there. Very Happy

kp_432, I did the fuel pump on my '97 gp via the access door.
The hoses need to be disconnected before the pump is removed. That's ok unless one of the hoses disappears between the trunk floor and the top of the fuel tank. Not much room to fish them back out. Tie a piece of string to the fuel lines before disconnecting them so if they run and hide you can pull them back.
Hope this rambling makes sense.
