Is it required to have your pcm tuned for a 180* thermostat? The earliest I would be able to afford a tune would be mid to late spring... Just looking for something to preoccupie me for a bit tomorrow figured this might be good.

It isn't required (you can isntall a 180* tstat first) but you wont take full advantage of it without a tuned pcm.


Basically with just the tstat it will stay in open loop. Might get a little cooler, but without the pcm telling the fans to kick on at 180* it will still get hotter. I had one isntalled in mine for about a month before I got my tune.

so it wont hurt anything to got 3-4 monthes with out it tuned?

If you do city driving, it's a pointless mod without a tune, if you drive in the open air, it will be fine.
