Hi all, I have Enkei 18's and they're wrapped in Hankook Ventus V12 EVO K110 245/40/R18 tires. The ride is rather nice and the traction on wet and dry surfaces is rather nice. Rides and handles tons better over the factory 16's and huge tires.

My question is, we usually find pretty good deals on craigslist on slightly used tires for cheap. I don't know much about tires, but I LOVE the "fat" look of tires from the rear of the impalas. Something about it makes the car sit "nice" if you can call it that? I'm not really sure lol..

Getting to the point, what are some tires sizes that y'all would run, and why? What makes it better than something else...?

On 18s I'd go with 245/45/18s as they are going to have the closest dimensions to stock (and it's what the majority of vendors swell as the plus sized equivalent to the stock 16" tire).

I run 245/45/18s on my summer rims. I looked at the traction ratings for summer tires and got the best I could with the highest treadwear that I could find.

Seems like I've got close to the best size tires on my 18's at the moment. I found a Full Set of Pirelli PZERO Rosso 245/45/R18s on craigslist, 6000 miles for $300. E-mailed the person to get pics and see if they're negotiable at all. Still looking around for a hell of a deal, the tires aren't horrible right now. I'm not going to be running the 18's all winter either as they'll be horrible in the snow and ice.

Will 255/60/R18's work? I found a set of 4 used with 70% tread left for $60 on craigslist.

Not a chance in hell. They are several inches taller than a 245/45/18 tire

Use this tool to see if tire sizes are decent fits. +/- 3% is probably the most difference you want over stock.

Works well, thanks for the link! I'm trying to get a little bit wider tires than I have now.

How wide are the rims? 245/45/18 is the correct size in general for the impala with 18's, and it's a decently cheap size of tire. 255 is about the widest you can go. If you like the shorter tire, a 255/40/18 would work, it's about half an inch wider than the 245/40/18. However, idk if you'd notice that big of a difference. I myself am waiting for a set of 235/45/18 for mine Cool And I bet I'll be more flush than you Laughing
If I were you, I'd either do the 245/45/18, or 255/40/18

Bridgestone Turanza Serenity's. Just sayin. These run quieter than any 16's that were on my car, and they handle well.

I may have found a place very local that has a set of 4 Goodyear 225/45/18's for $120, used, with about 70% tread left, even wear. I e-mailed the guy and asked for pictures....but using that link it shows that the speedo shouldn't be off at all with that size is that correct?

225/45/18 does not equal 245/45/18. The diameter difference is 2.45%

We told you 245/45/18 for your 18s lol

I dont remember what stock was, believe its 225/60/16

if so, the 225/45/18 will be shorter

speedo will read 60 and you will be going 58.5

tire will also be roughly 1" narrower than your current 245's

Well, they will be closer than what you got on there now as far as height goes, but yeah,... much skinnier.
