ive read over alot of previous posts about porting and polishing on this site, everyone talks about it, i want to know who has attempted this task themselves

i have an 04 ls with the l36 engine, i tore down the engine to replace a leaking LIM gasket and i want advise form someone who has ported one out before,

is it worth my while to try this out, i want to know if im gonna gain anything or is it gonna hurt the performance of my engine

thanks for feedback!!

Honestly, if you aren't planning on doing a turbo, or top swap (which you would need the L67/L32 LIM anyways) it isn't really worth it. I thought about doing it when I was tearing my engine down to the heads, but decided against it. (mostly for time).

I mean its worth it if you are able to let the car sit while you work on it, just don't expect miracles from it.

At your mod level I'd bet there are other restrictions that need to be addressed before opening up the lim would make a noticeable difference.

Its not worth the hassle of porting the LIM unless you have ported heads, and even then the benefit is almost non-existant being n/a with a stock valve train

this^..

so if you are planning on doing other mods, it might be worth while if you know what you are doing. But still, being NA its not a great mod if its gonna take you a lot of time and effort
