Hey guys, been monitoring things using the Torque App on my Droid3 while driving (dash mount; so I don't have to look down). Anyways, during a WOT from 0, my KR* jumps up to 7.3* of KR, I have a tuned PCM and a s**t intake from ebay (not CAI, or FWI). Is there something wrong here?

If someone can tell me how to read the logs from the Torque app I'd really appreciate it. Im going to be driving for about 45 minutes to the airport in about a half hour and wouldn't mind logging that entire trip if it'll give good information.

Let me know what steps to take from here on, I don't think I should be getting such high KR with a tuned PCM on a rather stock vehicle....

Just did a quick skim over of the thread, seems as if a stock L36 is "allowed" to have some KR?

Should I log my driving on the way to the airport just to see what I can find out?

BTW- Glad my comment was sig worthy haha

Ya that was funny Laughing

I'd log it just for fun. The worst thing that could happen is you find something wrong.........which is a good thing...........but maybe a bad thing if it costs.

What is a Torque App and how do you connect it to the car?

But in trying to help you, I'd go down the list... How old are the spark plugs? MAF clean? Fuel? Fuel filter?... etc....

Torque app is an app on Android. You need to have a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter. It's about $25 and plugs right into your OBD2 port and lets devices connect to it. In my case, my phone (Droid3) will connect via bluetooth to it and the Torque app can access the data provided thru the OBD interface.

The spark plugs were replaced at 100k, I'm at 119,563miles as of today, the MAF has been cleaned very recently (a week ago?), I run nothing but 89 from Hess, and the fuel filter was replaced approx 8k miles ago.

Stock you are going to see some KR.

Before I did anything to my car I was getting about 5* WOT.

What octane gas are you running? With a tuned PCM I would run 93 if possible..at a min do 89. Also, what other mods, if any do you have?

I have a CAI, pem's, downpipe back exhaust, tune, HV3, ported TB, and a few other things and running 93 I see 0*..running 89 once in a while I will see <0.5*.

The colder the air coming in the less kr you will have, so switching to a CAI or FWI will cut down on the KR as well.

Colder air actually requires more fuel for combustion. Without adjusting the tune, running a CAI can actually cause you to run slightly lean.

The motor is completely stock. The only thing I have done is a 180* stat and an intake. It's pretty much a hot air intake (intake temps are usually around 125-130).
I was under the assumption that once I got the tuned PCM the KR should be pretty much gone

This is the same one I have....as you can see, it's open cone to under hood temps and get's pretty damn hot.

Are you on the latest version?

My latest version is 1.5.12. It just updated two days ago. After a update one time, Knock Retard showed up as one of the available PIDs.

Well, I guess if the app is good as an ob2 scanner.... I would think a lot of that is possibly false KR... Try Sea foam???

Been looking at this app, can you post a link where you bought the blue tooth adapter...
