Hey guys,

My 2003 impala ran fine up until today when I turned it on and noticed a relatively rough idle compared to what it normally is. I put it in reverse and the shaking was terrible and it didn't sound good, it also shakes in drive. Check engline light came on also.

Any ideas? I appreciate the help. Cool

Cylinder #1 misfire. Replaced plugs and wires (non oem) about 7k ago, and this is the first time ive had issues. Fuel injectors have never been cleaned/replaced, so I'm assuming its fuel injector related unless you guys have any other ideas.

thanks for the help guys Very Happy

Could also be a coil pack. Take it off and check out the bottom of it.

You could also move the plug/wire to a different cylinder and see if the code changes.

Replaced cylinder #1 spark plug and it still ran like s**t. Realized if it was coil pack cylindder #1 and #2 would be misfiring. Moving on to injectors tomorrow. it'll be easier than replacing plugs, just not as cheap Evil or Very Mad .

not 100% certain but i dont think thats how these coil packs work they work independent from each other or they would fire at the same time

can I test the coil pack with an ohmeter? The exhaust sounds more like a tractor, its not a steady sound anymore, it sounds like i installed a fart can on the thing. Garage wants $520 to replace injector, I'll definitly end up breaking some more s**t if I try to do it because my tools are s**t sauce. I think it might finally be time to call it quits on this impala, the next thing that'll go is the the tranny.

Friday I'll replace the distributor, check for a vacuum leak, then if all else fails i'll venture into replacing the injectors. I'm worried about the EGR when I remove the upper intake however. When I replaced the head gaskets this past december, the EGR was a absolute bitch to get back on... Any ideas for that? I ended up partially cross threading it at the beginning before I finally got it on (took me an hour or two to get it back on).

I appreciate the ideas and help folks. Very Happy

Laughing

You said you used NON OEM plugs. Sometimes using anything other than Delco can cause problems. Just a suggestion. Hopefully it's something simple.
