I am having problems starting my impala. I changed out a new ignition switch because the old one was causing my A/C to not work sometimes. I was unable to take out the 3 pin connector going into the lock cylinder so I kind of damaged the plastic connector housing on the passlock and bent the three pins. I was able to bend the three pins back in place and I put everything back together. The car started fine, started the car several times and everything worked perfect. I put the ignition switch back into the dash and car would not start. I took the ignition switch out and took out the 3 pin connector then put it back into place, then the car started fine. I thought it had a bad connection so I made sure it was put in place tightly and I taped it to make sure since I damaged the plastic housing. I put it back into the dash and car would not start. So I decided to do what others did, I cut the connector and I soldered three new wires to the three tin leads of the ignition switch and then I soldered the three new wires to the three wires leading to the BCM. The car will not crank at all now, am I passlocked out? I thought doing the relearn will work but it keeps blinking security and battery, alternating, never stops after the 10 minutes that everyone said. Can anyone help me? Do you think my new ignition switch is causing all my problems?
I'm sure someone can come up with an idea or solution. Did you try de-soldering and reconnecting the original way? May have to drive around without the switch mounted to get by in the meantime. Be patient, someone with more knowledge should respond. This is a great site. Great people
