How did it begin? Why? Who were the "originals"? How many were there? Are any still around or around other forums? If not to many people were here at first what models did they have? Does it look simular to what it did? Just curious maybe some other people will appreciate how it began as well.

Well, I started it back in 2001 and I'll share the little story on how it came about and how it changed.

In 2001 I bought a 2002 Impala LS and quickly re-branded it as an SS and did a lot of mods that were found on the 04SS years before GM ever announced it. I had a small informational site showing the progress of my car's transformation and quickly gained a lot of fans. This is how I started selling mods that I created.

As people started to track me down, they all wanted to find Impala specific parts which did not exist. So I took a page out of the local housewives that complain about everything that goes on here. I created a letterhead with an organization name that sounded like it meant business (The North American Impala Owners Association) I told people as they requested parts to be made from manufacturers, tell them you sit on the board of the NAIOA. Make your letter polite and professional. Eventually parts started to be produced!!!

As word spread, people started asking about "joining" the club that really didn't exist. Another enthusiast "blackf0rk" contacted me and told me he can build a proper site with a forum for members to join. We signed into a partnership and the NAIOA.com site and forum was started (2002)

About a 2 years into it, another member and fellow enthusiast contacted us about bringing the NAIOA into the future and making a much better site. This was BBEngineer. In a matter of months, he custom built this forum and the main portal page and the new NAIOA was launched with a handful of members. A few are still active today. Myself, BBE and MISHNAH are probably the oldest around. BBE then helped me launch the NAIOA Shop and with the help of members, we quickly added products, we used to sell homemade performance products as well as the decals I make now.

A few years ago, blackf0rk decided to pursue some other interests and BBE and I bought him out of his share of the site.

That's about it, not much more to tell. It basically started as a ploy to "muscle" manufacturers into producing parts and quickly grew into an international club.

Where does it go from here? We don't know. The platform is dead, the cars are so cheap they have become disposable. If GM ever wakes up and produces a new Impala that is worthy of the nameplate, then the site will really pick up.

Does anyone know of/believe the hype of the 2015 Impala being manufactured?? Ive been told it will be sharing the Epsilon II platform with the CTS. But Im afraid we'll get the Dumbed down version

You left out the part where you and BBE came over to the Monte Carlo boards, we created the NJ meet and NAIOA took a turn for the epic when I started posting here.

So what about Impala HQ? I read that for about a year before I found this club. From what I remember the name was running out of time or something like that. I think the guy lived in Hawaii.

I think it really depends on ones definition of worthy. If it means a performance oriented RWD car then yes, definitely slim to none. They very well could produce a solid car once they actually redesign it on a new platform though.

I believe Nathan bought his in 00 and started the site shortly after. I had a similar site going in 02 without the "How To" stuff because that was his deal and I didnt want to butt heads. He let the domain expire and as soon as we found out, we started downloading the site. I think there was 5 or 6 of us trying to get as much of the info as we could before it was gone for good.

Ive talked to Nathan since then, he is glad someone was able to save it and gave us the blessing to mirror the site here. We would never mirror the site without his approval and we had it ready to go for a few weeks before I was able to get in touch with him. He was never an active member here.

So did you ever find out why he just let it expire? Lack of drive, no time for it, bought a different car?

as far as I know, he still has the car. I believe it was just his family was growing and he didnt have the time / resources to continue it.

Do you think he has an account here? just never admitted the site thing? or maybe he just comes on here for answers and just doesnt want the credibility from the other site?..............
