************ So I changed both elbows the upper had a nice crack about 1in 1/2 long. the lower had broke off inside.. got all the plastic and O rings out. Installed new Elbows. NOW My temp is still going into the red with no signs of leaking or spraying.. I'm totally stumped..

How is an easy way to tell if it's my elbow that needs replaced or if its my intake manifold. I'm losing coolant and getting alot of spray under neath the hood.
today before i shut the car off i looked to see where it might be coming from, it was spraying what appeared to be out of the intake but after i let the car sit for a few hrs and i just let it idle for 15min i could hear it leaking again but was getting no spray from the intake manifold. so i'm thinking okay maybe its the elbow and earlier the elbow was just spraying up to look like the intake... is there any easy way to tell for sure what it might be?

thanks!

If you are shooting coolant around, it's probably the elbows. It could easily be mistaken for coming out of the LIM since the elbows run into the LIM and the block. It's pretty easy to replace them.

What makes you think of Dwight? I'm certainly not a beet farmer. Laughing

You should be able to pick up the elbows from any parts store. I got some Dorman elbows for the Intrigue for a few bucks at Autozone (only to find out that the Intrigue only has an upper elbow and the lower is cast into the tensioner). OEM elbows will set you back around 15.

Autozone has them. Ask for the Dorman heater hose fittings for a GM car. If the parts guy is worth anything he will know exactly what you are talking about. It's Dorman P/N 47065.

My guy had no clue either. He had 2 ask the other guy who I actually knew and they are on one of the shelves back in the HELP section...should be around the vacuum hoses or something at advance and I believe its back near the oil at most autozones

Did you top off and bleed the coolant after replacing the elbows? If not, you probably have a bunch of air bubbles floating around the system.
