From what my brother told me, he thinks it is illegal by ME driving his car while it is in HIS name while we live at the SAME address. I have full coverage insurance, so does he. It is legal for me to drive a friends car correct? wouldnt it be the same deal then with my brother? I am on my parents insurance as i am under 25 and a full time student if that says anything.

Read the fine print on the policy and your states laws, but the car insurance usually follows the car and not the driver. This is why no one drives my vehicles but me.

Check the crimial code and you'll find nothing in there about driving a car you don't own, unless he doesn't know about it LOL.

On my policy I belive its name insured and family. So I can let my brothers drive my car but not my friends. I have full coverage on both me and my wifes car through Esurance. You really have to read the fine print, all policies are different. If you dont want to do that then just call the insurance company and ask, they will tell you.

Simplest way to answer the question accurately instead of reading a dozen guesses from forum members who are NOT your agent (no offense, guys) is for your brother to call his insurance agent and ask.

I will agree that usually the coverage follows the car and not the driver, as long as the person driving it is with the owner's permission, but insurance companies are known for sticking cute little riders and clauses into their policies that most people never read anyway, until something happens. And every policy and company are different.

One phone call will give you the correct answer.

i know every car insurance company i have had ask for who i live with. now like DennisW said they probably will use that and say he wasnít honest in the policy so it voids it.
