I'm thinking about stopping by a dealer and picking some molded mud flaps up. What do they look like? Does anyone have any pictures? Would there be any room to paint a bowtie?

And how functional are they?

Take a look in ZSPOT's garage you'll see pic's of them they look good imo and i'd say there would be room for a bowtie if you wanted one. i dont have them so i dont know how effective they are.

And time for a ridiculously stupid question. They are plastic, and not like rubbery flappy? How do black ones look on silver?

Would a chevy dealer have silver ones, or just unpainted?

And finally, are they an easy install? Do you have to take the wheels off?

Thanks for the help guys.

Installation takes a phillips screwdriver, drill & drill bit. Installation is self-explanatory. Takes maybe 3-5 minutes a corner, depending on if you have to clean area first. They are made of a tough plastic that is pretty forgiving & will bend alot if needed. They come in black from the dealer, and don't think you can order them in silver. Make sure you tell the dealer the year of your vehicle, there are some changes between the 2000 & 2001, and maybe others.

As stated they are black but from what I remember reading they're paintable. They conform REAL well too. Don't use after market ones. Sad

I live on a gravel road, and constantly had mud on the sides of my car from driving through the puddles, mud, dirt, etc. For $30, the mud flaps solved this problem, and really are not that noticeable, because they're actually molded to fit the car. I don't really think they make the car look sexy, but they function very well.

That's the reason I got mine. I live on a crappy gravel/dirt/mud road. The splash guards keep the mud and rocks from hitting the sides of the car. Helps pretty well.

I have them on my car.. painted body color. I think they look great, and my car seems to stay much cleaner.

I picked up a set from ZSPOT and then wouldn't you know it, a new set pops up locally on CL for less than new price - figures Rolling Eyes
