I have seen posts on here of people switching from the half bench seat, to buckets. Is this a hard switch? Also can you get buckets that are manual adjust instead of auto? Thanks! -Matt

all W-Body cars will swap in. Rears may not because of the 4 door / 2 door difference.

Monte Carlo, Impala, Regal, Grand Prix, Intrigue, Lumina, and I think the Lacrosse might be a W-body as well.

Because recaro seats are quality seats, and can be re-upholstered?

If one has let's say an '01 Impala, and came across seats from an '03 Grand Prix... would this be a plug n play install w/no wiring modifications? Or any 2nd gen W-body seats to use I guess for that matter.

I'm gonna go ahead and say no, it's not guaranteed to work solely based on the fact that some cars came with side air bags mounted in the seats and some did not. IIRC there is a picture of someone that had a car with different seats in it with the side air bag from the old seats placed under the new seats...

That said, you can swap to seat with no airbag, BUT you are going to have an airbag light on.

The side airbag is a secondary airbag system, so even though the light is on, the normal airbags will work fine. Problem is if your state has an inspection for that light you are up a creek. If you have someone with a tech 2 (dealer will likely not do it but you can ask) they can program out the secondary airbag system so the light goes away.

If you DON'T already have a side airbag, you can get a seat with one (hard to find though) and swap it in. The side airbag is not going to work, but you can leave that part unplugged and it wont cause any harm.

So if you don't have a side airbag, you are better off. If you do, Try to find seats with one, or you'll have to deal with the light unless you want to take the upholstery off the new seat, cut into it and mount it on the old seat.

Okay, VISUALLY, how does one tell if they have air bag seats? I'm looking through RPO's and it's not helping much.

Excuse the bird s**t, but the side air bag is pretty obvious on the side of the seat.

LMAO! That sucker damn near got you! Quite the extract navigational skills that bird has! I appreciate the pic, thank you. I myself would have wiped that down real quick before the pic, but it gets the job done none the less! Smile

Do both sides of the seat have that then, or just the sides facing the door?
