I just noticed what appears to be bubbling of the clear coat in one area of my hood... Short of wet sanding off the clear coat and re-spraying, is there any simple fix or repair for this?

It's hard to tell but has that been repaired? If it has been, chances are that is water under the paint just popping it. That is odd though

No, never repaired.... I suspect the clearcoat has been damaged in some way, maybe a dry rag being used on the dry hood... Since the car is 10+ years old I am just looking for a driveway way to fix it up... Not looking for perfection...

You can attempt to use an orbital with compound for a few passes, but it might be too far past.

Yea I was thinking that it might just need to be sanded down and repainted. Not sure this is a driveway job.

Mine has the same issue but mine had some bodywork done with the first owner. I need to sand down and repaint the front bumper and hood as well.

Yeah, looks like the creeping crud... A local body shop told me they could finish the entire hood and blend into the fenders for "only" $650... Shocked

if you need a guy to talk to about getting it done, the guy that painted my Monte does great work and is way less than most shops since he has minimal overhead and does all the work himself with help from his son. He's just north of LIE x64. I could meet you there if you want, I'll introduce you to him for even further discounts.

Its very dangerous having someone close by that does great work for a great price. I already have a list of things to paint. I think next up is my 1960's Pepsi Machine I have in the shed.

Well I used to have a guy in NJ but he's moving to Georgia. He did my trunk-lid when I did the spoiler swap. But now I'm getting the SS Hood + my whole car honestly needs a repaint after my turbo build...

Anyway! Enough thread-jacking. I still think you should try an orbital with a strong compound and cutting pad and just TRY to heat up the clear and see if it can do it.

Get a hard cutting compound on that. I'm willing to bet itll fix that right up. I've done MANY a paint correction jobs that have seen that same problem
