This is my 2000 LS after a major clean up. I took about 5 years of neglect off as well as some smokers breath. The original owner smoked in it.

I just ordered brand new assemblies (pair) for $85 off of e-bay. Sure they're not OEM Assemblies but hell, $85 and deal with a little moisture here and there, or $450? I'll deal with the lil bit of moisture that always occurs with aftermarket headlights. Let me know if you'd like the link.

Cool, Thanks Billy for the link.

Let me know when you get them, what kind of quality they are, how well the look and fit. I might order them on Monday.

My advice, put wax on them right away.

Of course. You haven't been here long, but I was recently in a front end accident with my impala so she's been getting neglected paint wise. washed once a week maybe. before the accident my schedule was a wash and wax every sunday, wash on tuesday, and a wash on friday, my car was always kept immaculate. Some may call it too much, but I say it will never hurt. I have all parts ready to be put on the car, just the new Hood and Bumper need to be painted. I'm going Monday to get quotes to get them both painted..and once of the questions will be, how long until I can throw a coat of wax on them? haha.. I wax every inch of my car when I do it, the headlights always. I'm not worried about them getting faded, the moisture pisses me off but I know it's unavoidable with aftermarket assemblies. i'll definitely post pics of how the assemblies look when i get them.

The wax on the outside of the headlights help prevent the oxidizing as far as the outside goes, but the inside there is not a whole lot that can be done short of taking them apart, then they will leak. Its a lose lose in that area.
I know how discouraging it can be when your car get wrecked, I wouldn't want to clean mine either. It highlights the damage. Sorry about you accident. Good luck on finding a good paint shop.

Try cleaning up the original ones with some 1000 grit wet sandpaper, then rubbing compound then wax and they will come out like new.

Car looks great BTW

I did, I used to own a headlight restoration business, but due to the economy it sank, but all that stuff on the lights are on the inside of the lense. The outside feels and looks good. I belive that if you simply put wax on the lights every 3ish months from new they will never oxidize. My wifes 2006 Mitsubishi Galant LS lights are original and still like new.

It would be much better if you used 1000 grit to remove the worst part then follow it with 1500 and then final sand with 2000 grit to smoth it out and use a 3M Final Cut compound and a high speed buffer then follow that with a good quality wax, rewax every 3 months atleast. I have found that this proceedure will fix the average oxidation. When they are really bad start with a 600 or 800 and work in different directions with each change of grit.
Example:
600 grit = side to side
800 grit = up and down
1000 grit = side to side
1500 grit = up and down
2000 grit = side to side
Dry the surrounding area real good
Make sure that you dont see any of the previous direction marks before going to the next grit or it will show through.
The lense should look real uniform and feel very smooth, if not resand with 1500 and 2000 grit.
3M Final Cut compound with high speed buffer till its clear and all compound is gone.
Wipe with a clean cloth.
Apply the wax of your choice, I recommend Meguiars Gold Class

I recommend using only wet sandpaper and protect your paint with blue painters tape.

Here's pics of the new assemblies. It has rained the last three days on and off, and been in the sun as well and they're holding up well - moisture wise. I'm very happy with them. BTW, the light throw on them is AMAZING!

Here ya go!
