just noticed when i start my car up it :"ticks" only for 30 seconds or less then the ticking noise goes away...is this normal or should i start saving money?
oh the ticking is driver side i believe

How's the oil level? If these cars are low on oil, you tend to get some lifter tick.

oil changed 2 k ago but i got oil pan gasket leak.....gonna go check my oils lvls

UPDATE: oil lvl is 100%, started it up heard it for 10 seconds and it went away.
just to let you guys know i only hear this when im parked beside a wall/car and my windows open so its not super loud but i like my smooth running engine and dont want it sittin at a light tickin lols

I think you have the 3800 and idk how this pertains, but I know 3400's tick pretty heavily when started and even when warmed up, the engine isn't that quiet, especially when next to a wall, car, etc like you mentioned.

My 3800 ticks quite a bit at times, it's just lifter tick even with the proper oil level. I remember reading that this is fairly common.

The lifters tick when they start mixing with coolant. Not saying this is the case here, but if you have never done the lower intake it may be time.

i get my oil changed every 3 months or 5000km, i maybe lose 1/4 of a quart of oil, coolants always up.

make sure the upper and lower intake gaskets are good and the coolant and oil aren't mixing.

If they are good, just make sure she's full on oil...most cars have do have a bit of a tick or even piston slap to them until the oil gets worked through all the moving parts and the metal expands, but if you've never noticed it before, just check the UIM and LIM gaskets to be safe...
