I just bought a 2011 GMC Seirra SL crew cab. The truck had 4 miles on it. Its my first brand new car, So, kinda excited. It was my "YAY! I graduated college, and have a big boy job" present to myself.

I wanted the SLE, but I don't want to stretch myself too thin. I just didn't feel comfortable spending more than I did. I'm still adjusting to making more than $400 a month.

I'll post pics tomorrow of it. I just got home.

So, its been fun. Laughing

4.8L

I couldn't justify the extra cost in my head.

really, just the price. I have absolutely no need for 4x4. I work downtown, and all I'm going to tow with the truck would be a bass boat. We have plenty of ramps to launch a boat around here. When I hunt, we always park off the road in the grass. My dad hasn't got stuck yet, and he drive a '93 4-cylinder 2wd Toyota pick-up.

Besides, if I had a 4x4, I'd be so tempted to jack it up 6+ inches.

Does it have a locking diff or open rear? A locking diff makes a HUGE difference on a 4x2. My old man has a Silverado 4x2 that came with the open diff and it was usually pretty prone to spinning the wheels in the rain or any bad weather. He had a Detroit Locker installed and it was like night and day.

What made you decide to go GMC over Chevy, is there a difference in features or just that the GMC is better looking?

I'm pretty sure it has an open diff, but I haven't spun the tires once since I got it. Its been storming all day, although I am babying it.

The reason I got the GMC, was because the dealers had better pricing on them. Same features, but the Chevy dealers "sold out" of the sale priced truck. They had plenty of the same trucks, but they were more expensive.
I asked them what the difference was, and the dealer said they were the exact same.
I told him, to give me the sale price on the same truck, and he told me he couldn't, so I walked.

Besides, I like the looks of the Sierra better.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was open, that's the standard in most cases with a locker being an option. Look into it though, a locker is a really worthwhile upgrade when you've got the cash.

Agreed on the Sierra looking better, I'm actually surprised you got a better price on it. Usually the Sierra ends up being the more expensive option around here. I would've definitely gone for the Sierra too given the cost advantage. Enjoy it!

I'm shocked as an owner of a white vehicle you bought another white car. Laughing I figured white cars were like black cars... once you own one you never do it again.

Either way, that's not a bad looking truck. The only thing that looks out of place is that strangely located antenna on the roof.
