After several year of cleaning and polishing my headlight lenses over and over, they now don't last very long before quickly turning very badly hazed over... So I want to "bite the bullet" and buy a new set with nice clear lenses... But I want to get the "smoked" ones like the SS has... Check out this eBay item and tell me what you think...

The SS doesn't have smoke lenses... all models of the Impala got the same exact headlight assemblies

I thought that was the case!... Thanks... But these eBay assemblies appear to be "blacked out" between each light... Mine are so hazed over I can't tell (They actually look better in the pic than in real life)...

But if they are all the same then why are these eBay ones $50 less than the ones in my first post??

They are all black between the lights... even the factory ones...

Those Ebay ones are aftermarket (not OEM) and when it comes to the headlights, you get what you pay for...

This model is now at best 6 years old, yet GM dealers want to charge the same price as they did in 2002. Really? No wonder people buy aftermarket... Heck, I can keep buying aftermarkets yearly and I'll be rid of the Imp before I'll break even buying the GM ones.

<rant>Sure, I get what I pay for. But then when the OEM ones are hazed over in three years, what's the warrenty GM offers? I'm gonna guess it's only a year, so I'm back to dropping another $350 on OEM ones. What a deal.</rant>

Wow, you must have the worst luck with headlights... you sure they weren;t aftermarket to begin with?

After 4 years, my Impala headlights had zero haze and aside from some rock chips, were in great condition

If it were me, I'd look for some good condition used OEM lights... and stay far away from the aftermarket ones

I have to agree with bbengineer. My 2001 still has the OEM headlights with about
91,000 miles. They are as clear as day one. I had to replace one of them due to water intrusion, but as long as you keep them clean and waxed from the get go, they should last a long, long time.
