Don't expect to glean any useful information from that thread. ImpalaGTS didn't do the work on his own and has no idea what his mechanic did to the car. BBEngineer posted a link to an LS4 swap on another forum (Monte Carlo Forum?) that actually had useful information.

In a nuthshell... it's a swap you do when you have more money than brains.

yaa i totally agree with you there..i would do it, just because it would be rare..but ya thats a tru money pit..

and if i remember right ..there is a 00-05 monte that does have a v8 in it..convertible to i think....

only reason im wondering..is cuz if somebody did.. i wanna know what motor they used..cuz if i did it..i would use the 5.3 displacement motor in the 06 impala SS..because i have an opportunity to get that motor and tranny.

Well they didn't make a Monte Carlo convertible... so if it was, it was a hack job trailer queen.

if you are planning a V8 swap, then the 5.3 LS4 is your only choice without doing insane mods to both the car and the motor.

IMO a V8 swap wouldn't be worth it. They only made verts in 70 and 71 I think. A newer one might look neat.

Because you can't hack up a unibody... it compromises the integrity of the structure, making the vehicle unsafe to drive.

He was giving you a reason why people dont do it. not a point. Iffy and a few others have very usefull info alot of people think they are just bashing them/calling names when they are just really giving you usefull information. you need to relax dude. you think he is being a dick look at my last thread LMAO! AND I STILL KNOW none of it is personal to me they are just telling me what i did is not good mod.

if i was gonna mae a v8 impala, only thing that would be impala would be the body and the interior, frame would be form a cutlass or something with a solid frame, big ass v8, and it would be converted rwd and stick. but id also buy a $500 junker i wouldnt use my impala i paid way to much for lols.IF i were to go v8

Don't get your panties in a twist. Unibody cars are not easily modified because removing any component weakens the structure. That's all that is being said here.

Chopping a unibody will probably make the car uninsurable for road use because it's crashworthiness goes down the crapper.

If you want to put the work/money/time in to do either a V8 swap or convertible modification, go ahead. Not many people do either one, and for good reason.

I personally think there is no good reason to have a car that's a garage or trailer queen... but if that's your thing, it's not on my dime, so go ahead!

Here's a thread from the MCF with an LS4 swap

http://montecarloforum.com/for.....ls4-26283/
